Knitting in Circles

Do you ever feel like you’re knitting in circles? I know I do. Always starting a project with a goal in sight and then…”ohh ahhh look at that I need to get that on the needles”. It’s no wonder I end up with so many wip’s. Usually, I do manage to get fed up enough to complete a few and get myself down to one or two eventually.

One of my goals was to have my “Cream Tea” done by my birthday. I sincerely doubt that this is going to happen although if I really crank out the knit mojo this week I may get close. I finished my back about 20 minutes ago. Halfway to a “real” garment.

Yes, I do have a birthday coming up. Not really thrilled about this one. Not that it’s one of those major milestone birthday’s but…I think the number is icky. The good part is that the prezzies seem to be rolling in already.

For starters, I received my newsgirl cap from the talented Sharon! I won her blog contest to name the Styrofoam head that models all of her lovely hats. All the way from Tasmania along with a cool postcard of Launceton where she lives. I decided to break down and model it myself even though I am NO Polly Styrina.

I have also been gifted (again) by Sonya, she presented me with some lovely sock yarn in fun and fab colors, 2 skeins of sugar and cream cotton and 880 yards of gorgeous lace weight merino wool in a blend of earthy soft colors. Any shawly project suggestions?

I have also started another diversionary project, a crocheted scarf for a breast cancer charity project that Kim, one of the gals from our Tuesday night group has going. I thought that I had forgotten how to crochet but like so many other things, it’s like riding a bike.

As for my recent blogging hiatus, I was busy with my sister coming in to town a week or so ago. Wouldn’t you know it Gus is also a knitter. In fact she’s the one who taught me when I was 8 years old. I think she was trying to keep me out of her hair 😉 Needless to say we hit the yarn stores and restaurants pretty hard. Gus is really in to making felted bags and managed to crank out SIX of them while she was here! I was really impressed with her speed and skill. She brought a couple of her completely finished bags with her, really awesome. The really impressive part of her bags are the linings that she puts in zippers and all! I told her that she needs to start her own Etsy store!
As for the diet, my clothes are fitting a little looser. I don’t really like to go by the scale. Of course I fell of the wagon a little when Gus was here but I managed to get right back on. I am determined not to be fat and forty…………………something.
